Hi Andrew! I saw you present at the OWASP meeting in Arlington a few months ago (going over top 10 as it was at the time), and for whatever reason, just had it pop into my head today going over stuff that you probably had a blog somewhere.

I hope you're still enjoying being on this side of the collective ponds . . . as someone who's fought the weight and blood pressure thing in the past, the main trick I've found that works for me is exercising regularly -- I went from "you are going to die if you don't take pills now" BP to "normal" in less than a year through just making sure I exercise very regularly -- at least 40 min to an hour a day, low-to-medium impact -- but it involved lifestyle changes which might be harder in columbia -- I began walking or using public transportation everywhere, and am now in a situation where I can bike to work a few times a week -- having your commute = your workout is great for when your schedule is too full to add in exercise. But I find once that exercise is there, at least with me, my metabolism shifts and I steadily lose weight until I am much closer to "fit."

But seriously, if you can manage it, you might want to try starting with 15 minute walks if you can fit them in, and increase as you can -- the world is better with you in it!

Yes to all the bits about the US and A. I've been in San Francisco for six months now. Lots of good things, but the sucky things you mentioned really are at odds with the external perception of an advanced, well organized society.

My day-to-day beef is with cash. One day I'll learn how to shuffle wads of crumpled, stained greenbacks and not drop them on the ground. The plastic-based, different colour Aussie currency is much easier to manage.

Mark, the cat slave is ... me. Not the cats. They are my furry overlords and I generally do all their bidding when they need something done which requires an opposable thumb.

Thanks for the nice comment. I'm sure we'll end up with a rogue dog or two sooner than later. :)

An all these years I though Lincoln freed the cats.

I have no idea how I found your blog but its interesting. So from one overweight person with a bad heart ....its easy to lose weight the healthy way. Get a dog. I got a dog, moved to the beach and walked on the sand and not only lost weight but got my heart in shape also. It not hard to go on a walk when its warm outside, if you can give it a try, it really good for you. Cheers.

That SUV on the crates - it was Sherry's. She's only had it for a month or so. 900 miles on it, no wheels, and panel damage from dropping off the blocks. She was less than impressed to say the least.
