One nuance I would add is that an ESB as opposed to old school messaging systems, should add some Web services and other HTTP based ways of publishing a message to a queue. This implies that your ESB has a way to do policy based mapping of credentials across protocols and data formats. I have been beating this horse into the ground for some time.

Anyhow, your post raises some important points - good on ya for raising them.

Hi, useful tidbit to know re AuthC. WHo, in this context, is "we"?

I found the poet thing interesting as well.

Paul,

We regularly use:

AuthC = authentication
AuthZ = authorization

I didn't know that about "poet" but that's okay. I'm only a poet in the smallest room of the house. You know, the shower.

thanks,
Andrew

Hey Noddy,

AuthC == Authentication? Not seen that designation before (AuthN was what the Shibboleth guys were using during their federation/eduPerson/SSO roadshow & workshops here in Oz back in late 2005)

Wingco
PS Did you know that "poet"'s first dictionary definition had "a person who writes poems" as the third def?
